Tourism

Tourism has been a part of the Ardchattan economy for many decades.

People would travel through the area from Oban and Fort William, by carriage, charabanc, train, and be brought in by sea from a variety of locations.

In the early 1900's many households would give up their houses for weeks at a time, moving into small outbuildings while the visitors had their house. We have copies of adverts from different locations in the Scotsman and similar papers.

Campsites sprung up .. certainly ones at Ledaig and Tralee Bay.. but there are memories of camping in other farmers fields to be recalled.

More recently the area has blossomed with 4 and 5 star award winning accommodation of all kinds — from camping, caravan sites, statics, chalets, lodges, B&B's, guesthouses and hotels. We are renowned for a high quality of service as well as an amazing environment to stay in.

Activity holidays have always been popular and the newest hobby of kayaking is made for our beautiful coasts and lochs.
