Norse / Vikings

The Vikings were the warlords and warmongers of the Norse society from Scandanvia.
This part of the world experienced influences from both the violence of the Vikings, and the integration of the Norse, who brought skills of more advanced farming and society to the area. The peoples who developed out of the melding of the indigenous world and that of the new influences were called the GalGael.

Place names in the Oban and Lorn area illustrate the Norse influence, and there is a possible Viking boat burial site by the Lochnell arms hotel
