The main aims of DASG are:
to preserve and enhance the fieldwork archive generated by the Historical Dictionary of Scottish Gaelic (HDSG) project by making it freely available online
to create the first comprehensive full-text corpus of printed texts for Scottish Gaelic, Corpas na Gàidhlig and make it freely available on the internet
to provide the textual corpus for the interuniversity project Faclair na Gàidhlig (‘Dictionary of the Scottish Gaelic Language’)
to facilitate and stimulate research in Gaelic-related studies in a variety of disciplines, especially Gaelic semantics, lexicology and corpus linguistics but also including Social Sciences
to provide a resource which will facilitate corpus planning and corpus development technology for Gaelic
