The population of the area was significantly more organised and sophisticated from the Iron age onwards
There is a wealth of evidence of important social structures and communication in our small area.
Burial chambers illustrate the importance of reverance and worship. The natural forces are powerful and people working in this environment would understand the benefits of appealing to them in various ways to bring good fortune, peaceful weather, strong crops, fertile stock.
The chambers are serious engineering and constructional operations. Their signifcance in time and in religion are profound
