1915 the family were at 5 Combie street, Oban where Dugald was working as a clerk.
He enlisted on the 16th March to the 2/8th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders at Dunoon. His attestation papers say he is 5 ft 4 and half and of fair physical development
He was training in Falkirk when he fell ill.
Regiment number 3217
21 August he was admitted to the 4th Scottish General Hospital at Stobhill with tuberculosis, and the later discharge from the army on the 27th Sept describes him as "obviously dying*
died 7 months later on the 1st October 1915 in Glasgow, he had already been discharged
Both parents had pre-deceased him but he had 6 brothers and sisters
