The Inveraray Jail records show we have quite a number of "criminal" locals to research, some are tragic stories, illustrating the life of hardship and need.
If anyone is in Edinburgh and would like to access some of these records for us to study, it would be very welcome

John Cameron was the Postmaster of Bonawe in the 1840's, but found himself convicted of Theft and fraud in 1846 which resulted in his being transported to Australia, reportedly to Van Dieman's Land. Are you related to him?
