Between 1841 and 1848 the Buchanan family from Keil, Duror took over the tenancy.
Angus Buchanan had married Margaret Proctor of Muckairn parish, on 7 July 1846 (she was sister to Mary, who had married Angus's brother, John Buchanan, who became Provost of Inverary)
They had 10 children (possibly 11 but need to sort these out yet) : Duncan, George P, Margory, Elizabeth May, (Angus), Margory, Peter, John, Francis Hugh, Margaret Ann, Mary Isa.

In 1861 the farm comprised 6000 acres; reducing to 4000 acres (of which 130 was arable, employing 8 men and 2 women) by 1881
