Gaelic meaning - place of the mill - township of the mill.
in 1650s Blaeu map the area is called Barwoulyn - there is milling happening at the earliest times of industrial flour processing

The township around Kintaline Mill, which was likely established in the middle of the 1700's as the stone built water mill that ran until the latter part of the 1800's but the Blaeu map suggests there may have been milling activity there previously.
EXCEPT - the 1871 Ordnance survey record suggests it is part of Barcaldine estate
Applies to four crofts on the estate of Barcaldine & situated about a mile and a quarter south of Shian Ferry.1
