Ardentinny is one of the few buildings marked on the Roy Map of 1745, lying close to the Isle of Eriska, where very few identified on this map, in the area, despite being well established from the century earlier on Pont Map
It was clearly a substantial and significant dwelling, and may well have been a crossing point for livestock from Lismore and Morvern in the past.
Close to the settlement is a Chalebeate spring the iron leaching turning the tidal mud bright orange.
