The All Our Stories project was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund
During 2013 over 500 organisations were awarded grants for dynamic and engaging community projects that helped people explore, share and celebrate the diverse heritage of the United Kingdom.
With money from the National Lottery, through Heritage Lottery Fund, thousands of people delved deep into archives and museum collections, explored historic sites on their doorsteps, and discovered untold stories in their communities.
The result is a rich tapestry of projects showcasing the amazing breadth and vitality of the UK’s heritage today.
Most of the All Our Stories projects created a digital record of their project : you can see them here
Our project is aimed at creating an ordered collection of the material we already have so that new material can be added in an organised fashion.. so we can understand what we have, what we are missing, and can find it.
It is also to get a better idea of the skills we need to run a proper archive, and find out who in the community was interested in what. So there will be workshops and talks from experts in and around our heritage community to learn more.
We also want to learn more about the place we live in, so walks around different locations will help us understand what, who, when, where.
