- William McMullen, labourer, age 55 of Bonawe convisted of Breach of the Peace by Sheriff Campion, sentenced to 14 days imprisonment or 20/- . Liberated following trial and payment of fine (Inveraray Jail records)

- Duncan McPhail, 31 year old married Stone dresser of Bonawe, was convicted of Assault by Col McDougall JP, and sentenced to 7 days imprisonment. Released: 28 May 1885 (7 days in Inveraray Jail)

- Jane Campbell, born in Bonawe, but resident as a domestic servant at Aros, Mull was found guilty of Concealing a pregnancy by Sheriff Campion, and jury, but dismissed in consideration of present state of health Admitted: 16 June 1885 Removed: 22 June 1885 to private lodgings in ill-health (55 days in custody) The Warder's wife, Mrs Boyd, was employed as a night sick nurse on the Surgeon's requisition at 2/6 per night. The prisoner received constant attention for the next four days, receiving medicine, beef tea and 3 teasponnfuls of castor oil. On the 22nd the Surgeon concluded that continued confinement in prison would endanger her life. That evening a petition was presented to the Sheriff for the removal of Jane Campbell to private lodgings as there was no hospital in town. (Inveraray Jail records)
